The deeply religious, vibrant and colourful dances showcase the exotic visuals and otherworldy mysteries of Bhutanese culture during the annual festivals known as tsechu.
Festivals form an integral part in the life of the Bhutanese. The largest of these festivals is the tsechu which feature mesmerising dance dramas in honour of Guru Rinpoche.
Tsechus are held on the open grounds of the dzongs and goembas. The dances are performed by monks and laypeople dressed in strikingly colourful costumes. The seasons coinciding with the tsechus are flocked with tourists, During such times, the atmosphere is a festive aura with the Bhutanese dressed in their finest traditional clothing and jewellery.
Different tsechus are held at different times in the different dzonkhags. And during such times, the flights into Bhutan and the hotels are usually fully-booked,

The Druk Wangyel Festival is an annual festival held on December 13th at the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang Festival Ground located at Dochula Pass. Set amidst the breathtaking Himalayan mountain backdrop, the Dochula Druk Wangyal Tsehchu is an experience unlike any other and truly exemplifies Bhutanese cultural traditions.
